Taste the Helderberg 2017

Slay your winter blues at Taste the Helderberg epicurean fest

Get the inside track on the best of Helderberg wines...

Hidden Valley Wines once again invite you to join us as we shun the cold of winter and light up at Taste the Helderberg – the sophisticated annual sip-and-snack institution of warm company, levity and gastronomic delight.

For one night only, wine farms and restaurants in the desirable Helderberg region spread their rainbow colours in a showcase of fine local fare that takes place in Somerset West on Thursday, June 15. This year, you’re invited to shed the winter blues by donning something red – the theme colour that makes an eye-catching statement.

“Taste the Helderberg rapidly became one of the mainstays on the calendar of Western Cape wine events,” says Stellenbosch Wine Routes Manager Elmarie Rabe. “Memorable social gatherings are rarely as good without great food and wine, and Taste the Helderberg has it all.”

Taste the Helderberg’s flavour smorgasbord will once again be served up from 17h00 to 21h00 at the landmark NH The Lord Charles Hotel – an arrangement that’s proven ideal for many visitors who traditionally make a weekend of it in the light of the public holiday the following day, Friday June 16.

A highlight at Taste the Helderberg 2017 for wine-lovers in particular will be the opportunity to get an early-bird view and sampling of the famed region’s latest wines as well as tasters of icons that have put this Stellenbosch Wine Route sub-region on the map of international connoisseurs. Many of these show-stopper wines will be available for purchase at special promotional rates that are also applicable on delivery through logistics and transport solutions company Aramex, proud partner of Stellenbosch Wine Routes.

Also on offer will be foodie pop-ups by the Helderberg’s well-known eateries and the chance to learn more about winemaking specifics from the winemakers and viticulturists themselves.

The master classes on grape varieties have been laid on by demand to emphasize the climatic and geographic reasons behind the exceptional quality that hails from this coastal area just minutes from the centre of Cape Town.

Expect an evening of conviviality, further spruced up with a backdrop of live music.

Tickets to the event are R100pp and should advisably be booked online at www.wineroute.co.za. If any tickets remain, they’ll be sold at the door.
