Hugo & Magriet - 09 April, 2010

Hugo and Magriet got married on a wet Friday afternoon in Stellenbosch. The venue Hidden Valley is set in the beautiful Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch. The ceremony was held in the cellar and for which we provided sound, the service was stunning especially when all the guests lit candles in celebration of this beautiful marriage.

Magriet looked absolutely gorgeous with handsome Hugo on her arm. The reception was very intimate and held in the restaurant Overture Restaurant. Carle the Function Co-ordinator made sure the venue looked stunning, with the assistance of management and staff the function ran smoothly. Photographer Mark Engelbrecht had great fun with Magriet, Hugo, her Bridesmaid and the Best man. Hugo and Magriet was an awesome couple to deal with, we’d like to wish them everything of the best for the future together.

Friday 09 April - Hidden Valley is aptly named - a long and winding road leads up into the Stellenbosch mountains and ends at the wine-estate tasting and function hall. The photo-shoot with Magriet and Hugo was planned to take place before the ceremony as we were concerned that the light would be gone by the time the ceremony was over. This we did and continued shooting well after the ceremony with some cool low-light photography. Brownie points go to Carle van Schalkwyk who co-ordinated the event expertly - nothing was too much trouble for her and she put up with all my requests to re-open doors, unlock stairways, etc, etc. The party, as always, was kept rocking by DJ Mark of Dreamweddings....enjoy..

When I first walked into the Hidden Valley venue it took my breath away. It was the  first venue I looked at as a possibility for my wedding. After seeing Hidden Valley nothing else came close to it. I was proved right, my wedding at Hidden Valley was a indeed an unforgettable experience. All our guests still maintain that our wedding at Hidden Valley was one of the best weddings they have ever attended, and I think Hidden Valley deserves some credit. The stunning views, the beautiful venue, exquisite food and the friendly and helpful staff all played a part to create a wonderful memory of our special day at this beautiful farm.

Thank you for making our wedding day such an unforgettable experience. The service was outstanding, the food was exquisite and the whole setting picture perfect. With Hidden Valley's already existing decor & breathtaking surroundings, we didn't have to do much to make it perfect for our special day. Our guests have all confirmed that it's been the best wedding with the best food they've ever attended - and Andy and myself have to agree. We'd like to thank everyone for the wonderful service running up to our day as well as the brilliant service on the night. May you have many more wonderful weddings sealed in this charming

Dear Mr. Hidden, Mr. Basson and Mr. Cormack,
We have been wanting to write you this letter since we had our wedding at Hidden Valley on August
18th. We wanted to wait until we could send the attached photographs, but the delay in no way
changes the way we feel about the experience.
We wanted to thank the staffs of both Hidden Valley and Overture for making our wedding day more
enjoyable and more relaxed than we could have expected. Across the board, the food, the wine, the
service, the setting, the staff – everything was exceptional. We would like to extend our thanks and
appreciation to everyone who worked that day.
We'd like to make a couple of special mentions. One is to the Overture staff for such lovely food and
professional service. We understand that executing the same quality of food and service for a
wedding that we'd had as regular diners is difficult and very much appreciated. Most of our guests
travelled some distance to come to our wedding, many from the United States and Europe, and so we
wanted to be sure they had a wonderful meal after coming all that way. They did, and we've been
hearing about it ever since. The springbok was a big hit, and the folks with gluten allergies were very
vocal in their praise for how the kitchen handled their needs – in particular the dessert.
The other special mention is for Carle van Schalkwyk, who was simply brilliant. Organizing a
wedding in South Africa while living in Amsterdam should, by rights, be a stressful and difficult
proposition, but her professionalism and helpfulness made the process a pleasure. Whatever we
requested she was able to help us with, and it rapidly became clear that we could trust her to do what
needed to be done, and that everything would be done right. The ability to rely on someone like that
is incredibly valuable and special, and we feel her efforts should be recognized.
I'm sure you are aware of Carle's planning skills, but there is something else you may not be aware of
which we also wanted to point out. After several frustrating interactions with her predecessor, we
had given up on Hidden Valley, when Carle took over as Event Coordinator. Literally overnight, she
solved all the problems we were having, and a couple of days later we were ready to put down our
deposit. She was directly responsible for ensuring that we booked at Hidden Valley instead of
somewhere else, and we're very happy it worked out.
Thanks again for everything, and we look forward to a visit the next time we're in Cape Town.

Hi Carle

Jonathan and I would like to say thank you to yourself and the Hidden Valley staff for the outstanding service.  Everything was well put together and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the food and the venue.

It was such a blessed perfect day, it was incredible how the weather played along.

Thank you for all your help with our wedding and all the finer details that you covered for us for the day. It was much appreciated

I would definitely recommend Hidden Valley to anyone, such exceptional service and friendly, helpful staff.

Hello Carlé & Suné
Baie baie dankie vir die heerlike picnic mandjie, ek en Etienne het dit sommer baie geniet. Julle kan met trots jul picnic mandjies aanbeveel asook jul ‘venue’, dis beautiful!
Ons het lekker daar onder die boom op die bankie gekuier, die kossies en wyntjies het ons lui gemaak, toe lê ons bietjie op die matjie in jul tranquil surroundings.
Dit was fantasties en ‘n heerlike ‘relax’, wat ek/ons so nodig gehad het!
