It is with great excitement that we proudly announce that the Hidden Valley Hidden Gems 2014 was awarded with a coveted Gran d’Or (Double Gold) Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards ceremony, held at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, on Monday evening, 26 September. A total of 670 awards were announced.
Now in its 20th year, the competition is widely considered equivalent to other international wine competitions held around the world, such as the International Wine & Spirits Competition and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. All the wines are judged blind according to the international 100-point system and awarded Platinum, Gran d’Or, Gold and Silver medals.
The Hidden Valley Bordeaux blend, the Hidden Gems, is a rich, velvety, full bodied, flavoursome wine. It consists of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, a varietal that our valley is famous for.
A Gold medal was awarded to the Hidden Valley Viognier/Sauvignon Blanc blend 2016. Due to be released later this year, it will be the 5th wine to be released in the new look wine range.
The Hidden Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was the 3d winner of the evening and was rewarded with a Silver medal. It has a mineral finish, which complements the flavours of any cuisine perfectly and its unique flavours are characteristic of our region.
